Many patients that are referred to our practice are surprised to learn that they have gum disease. Often times, good brushing and flossing techniques are not enough to prevent the loss of the gum and bone support around your teeth. Studies show that over 50% of the adult population has some form of gum disease, which can have a negative impact on your chewing and oral health as the disease progresses.
One of the technologies that our office uses to treat gum disease is the PerioLase® MVP-7™ dental laser. This allows us to perform the patented LANAP® and LAPIP® protocols to treat diseased teeth and implants. A specialized laser fiber (approximately the width of 3 human hairs) is inserted between the gum and teeth where it selectively targets the diseased bacteria and tissues in your mouth to remove them, allowing healthy tissue to reform in its place. Although there are many different laser gum treatments available, only those that use the PerioLase® MVP-7™ have been scientifically proven to regenerate the lost supporting tissues resulting from gum disease.
Some of the main advantages our patients see when having laser gum treatment performed are:
